This beautiful and seldom-seen view of the island took my breath away when I first pulled it out of the files at the National Archives. The picture affords a view of the Cell House (top of the island), the Power Plant (smokestake on lower left hand edge of island) and the Model Industries Building (lower right hand edge of the island).
The condition of the print is critical. It has faded to a sepia color in only twenty-six years! The edges are slightly torn. The whereabouts of the original negative are unknown.
