Friday Anteater Blogging – Sad News
Darwin Day was marked by the death of a baby tamandua in El Paso:
The zoo had hoped to announce the birth in about two weeks. Zoo veterinarian Dr. Victoria Milne and staff had been providing 24-hour intensive care since Friday.
The baby wasn’t nursing and appeared to have a blood disorder, according to a zoo news release. “She took a turn for the worse this morning and because she wasn’t responding to any of our medical care and continued to decline, the decision was made to euthanize her and prevent further suffering,” Milne said in the release.
